What a night to remember at the Lighthouse Brewery! The DB Cup awards and the Series winners took place on April 11th was more than just a prize-giving event; it was a testament to the grit and spirit of our riders throughout the 23-24 season.
Alex Mann, our MC extraordinaire, along with the dedicated committee, did an incredible job orchestrating the awards. With the club room packed to the rafters (standing room only!), we kicked things off at 6 pm and wrapped up by 8:30 pm. But, of course, the cycling banter and cheers didn't end there—many stayed on, reminiscing about the season's sprints, climbs, and those cheeky breakaways.
The club is buzzing with pride for the spectacle we've created. And let's talk value—where else can you get premium road racing at $3.50 a pop? That's right, nowhere but here in Leeston! The camaraderie on the road has spilled over, with partners and friends adding to the vibrancy of our community.
Shoutout to Jason, our member and the helmsman of Lighthouse Brewery, and his wife Paula, who ensured we were all well-fed from The Chippy. The evening was a blend of good tunes, great company, and the celebration of a sport we love.
Congratulations to all the winners, especially our DB Cup champs:

As we pedal into the off-season, let's keep the wheels spinning and the friendships flourishing. After all, we're not just a club; we're a peloton of passion. So here’s to making every race a breakaway from the ordinary!
🚴♀️💨 Remember, in a handicap race, it's not just about the sprint to the finish. It's about the shared effort, the strategy of working together to reel in the group ahead while outpacing the chasers behind. It's a fine balance of cooperation and competition that makes handicap racing uniquely exhilarating. So roll through, take your turn at the front, and race with the heart of a champion. We're all in this together!
